The Bodypump Class that Almost Never Was

Ok, maybe this guy is more hardcore than I am, but I just love this picture.

So, I’ve been a member of 24 hour Fitness forever. Even with the other resources I have (Crossfit, Beachbody on Demand, living by the beach where I can just go run, etc.) I still like having that gym membership. It’s a place I can go whenever I want if I just want to lazily ride a bike, hit up a treadmill when it’s raining, or go to a group fitness class.

I’ve been kind of into the group fitness classes lately and I’ve made a personal commitment to go to one most days of the week. There are two gyms near me that I can choose to go to with my membership…one near my work and one closer to home. I usually look at the class schedule and decide which one I’m going to go to based on what kind of workout I want to do, but yesterday they both offered the Bodypump class at 5:30. I got off at 5 yesterday and decided the one closer to work would be better since I would have to rush to make it to the other one on time, so that’s what I did.

Well, I showed up…but the instructor didn’t.

For a moment there, I wondered what I was going to do. Should I go to a different class at my home gym later? Should I just run on the treadmill (which I hate)? As I and the others in the class pondered our next steps, one guy decided that he had showed up for a Bodypump class and he was going to DO a Bodypump class. So, he found a Youtube video of a Bodypump class on his phone. He followed the Youtube video and we all followed him. It was pretty funny, but actually…I ended up having a good workout and I had a good laugh with the roughly 20 of us who decided to stick it out and do the class no matter what.

To think I almost just threw in the towel and headed home.

That just goes to show that you always have to make the best of a situation. Don’t ever let those things in life that go wrong cause you to give up. I could have easily just went home and watched a movie, but I did a Bodypump class even though there was no instructor. Don’t let a sudden change of plans stop you from achieving your goals. In the end, it’s the choices we make and our own motivation and drive that gets us to where we need to be. There is always something you can do. There is always a good choice you can make in every situation.

That’s what this experience has taught me.
